Reabold Hill is located on a calcareous coastal plain. The term calcareous can be applied to a sediment, sedimentary rock, or soil type which is formed from, or contains a high proportion of, calcium carbonate in the form of calcite or aragonite. Limestone formations in the park were quarried to provide stone for the growing population of Perth.
Originally this landmark was known as One Tree Hill. In 1839, Henry Trigg was granted the land around One Tree Hill. He established a quarry and kilns, to supply limestone for many of Perth's original buildings.
