Join me on another trip starting at the Ploughman’s Wetlands. This multi-cache can be attempted in a car, but the round trip walking out to the container and return to your car is only about 2km, so I suggest you take it easy and go by foot. Great place to walk the GeoPooch. Careful crossing Cargo Rd, it's busy sometimes. Beware the area can be extremely busy with Muggle activity at times. With a little stealth this won’t be a problem. Just try not to look too obvious standing around scratching your head trying to figure where the next WP is!! All co-ordinates in the clues are in DDD°MM.MMM format.
Ploughman’s wetlands is part of a stormwater harvesting system that has been developed by Orange City Council to help top up the city’s main water supply. There are several large ponds that have been built along Ploughman’s Creek which not only help filter urban stormwater runoff, but serve as a handy habitat for various birds and amphibians. Over 8km of dedicated Footpath/Cycleway is also being developed as part of the scheme.
At the start co-ordiates you’ll see a long line of Poplar trees stretching off to the north. Walk along these and count the number of trees. The first 10 or so are separated by two rocks each. You are only looking for the ones in straight row. Stop counting when you reach the corner of Ploughman’s Lane and Cargo Road (Coronation Drive). Make note of the number and call it “A”. Move on to WP2 - S 33° 16.803 E 149° 04.221.
Once you reach WP2, count the number of Symbols on the sign. Call this number “B”. Solve S 33° 16.(B-2)02 E 149° 04.2(A+8) and head to WP3.
Once there let the GPS settle a moment, to be sure you’re in just the right spot. Your objective is now (A*2-10)metres away on bearing 2B0°(true). If you follow the bearing carefully you should arrive at the right tree. The container is a small Systema with a little room for swaps. Place camo back after signing!
