Geocache Description:

Treviglas College - CITO Event 12 - 07/12/2013 Cache-In Trash-Out Event This event is a litter collection exercise across Dartmoor's Ditsworthy Warren. (This event has been cleared with the Commoners association). This is a DIY CITO event, please feel free to attend, sign the cache book and say hello to the groups if you see them.

The event encourages individuals to undertake litter collecting across the moorland area known as Ditsworthy Warren, on Saturday 7th December 2013, between 11am and 2pm (Three hour window). Defined features on the moor, which are areas of outstanding natural beauty are worth visiting, (and are being targetted for litter collection) are: Coombeshead Tor (371m), Gutter Tor(350m), Higher Hartor Tor and Lower Hartor Tor. There are however several other features on the moor, including Boundary Stones, Cuckoo Rock, Eylesbarrow Tin Mine, and various other enclosures, hut circles and ancient settlements which are amazing features. During the time frame of this CITO Event, four teams of students from Treviglas Community College will be out walking on the moor. These teams will be undertaking leadership training exercise as part of being a Duke of Edinburgh's Award/Community Police Cadets. These groups have several Geo-Cachers as members, will be carrying at least one Travel-Bug (Copy Tag) per team (Please ask to see the TB), and will be collecting litter along the way. Please enjoy your walk, collect litter along the way, and enjoy the scenery, and support the Commoners Association by the removal of litter left by other inconsiderate moorland users. For safety, it is advisable to ensure that you undertake the following prior to going onto the moor: a). Ensure you are properly clothed and equipped. b). Make sure you have a mobile phone, map & compass. c). Always let someone know where you are going. d). We advise you avoid the River Plymm. e). Read all the Geocaching.com CITO information. f). Remove all the litter you have collected. g). No liability is accepted by the organisers. h). Light rain/drizzle/mist will not cancel the event. NOTE: To varify you have attended the event, you must sign the CITO log book, on the day of the event itself, between 11am and 3pm. This log book is located in a well marked box, and will be situated on the back step of a 17 seater Ford Transit minibus, Registration FT08MRO, which will be beside the area marked as having a FORD, at map reference (OS Map SX579673 near to the start of Edward's path.
