Geocache Description:

The cache is placed just below the summit of a high mountain in the centre of the island with fine views.

The cache is set high up the mountain, it is placed below the peak because the final ascent to the summit would be too dangerous to attempt without specialist equipment.
The cache can only be approached from the west or the south so the advised parking place is on the main road. There are 4X4 yracks at the base of the mountain, this will reduce the walk considerably. It will not reduce  much of the real difficulty associated with this cache.
Walking boots are essential and the cache is unsuitable for children of any ages. The climb is very steep in places, you will also need a head for heights. Initially the walk to the cache is unpleasant with the ground having a considerable covering of rocks, this is followed by a steep area of soil covered by loose rocks. As you approach the cache the terrain becomes even worse, the approach is very steep and the bedrock is covered in loose stones and rocks with the mountain dropping away dramatically behind you.. The only nice thing about this cache is that, for a change, the descent is only slightly harder than the ascent.
My advice is to approach this cache from the south, there is a motorcycle track that come down from the mountain with The Cat on top, turn off this to the right to approach the main face of the mountain. Staying on the track to its highest point to start the climb makes the climb even steeper and the descent much worse.
If at any time you are not comfortable with the climb then turn back, it only gets worse the nearer you get to the cache.
My GPS decided to act up a little as I was recording the coordinates so I would be grateful for anybody who finds the cache to check the coordinates for me, I will amend them accordingly if necessary. The cache is easy to find, there is a notable "track" running across the face of the mountain at the base of the rock wall that prevents access to the peak. The cache is in a crack, covered by rocks, behind the only prickly pear bush on the mountainside.
As with all walking in Fuerteventura, because of the rocky terrain, ALWAYS look where you place your feet, if you wish to admire the scenery, stop walking and plant your feet securely.
