The River Drowes extends from Lough Melvin at Lareen to the Sea Pools near Tullaghan just outside the town of Bundoran and spans an area of about 5 miles in total. It is one of Ireland's premier Spring and Summer Salmon Fisheries and in addition holds good stocks of wild brown trout. It has accounted for the first recorded Irish Salmon of the season caught on rod and line on numerous occasions over the past 20 years.
Lennox's Bridge is one of the main fishing areas on the Drowes. The river is the border between counties Donegal and Leitrim.
To get to the cache you can park at the waypoint given, which is a widened lay-by and walk along the fisherman's trail, starting on the Leitrim side of the bridge. You may have to straddle a fence or two on the way. Afterwards, it is worth going to the other side of the road and walking along the wooden walkway by the riverside to get a proper view of the bridge and river.
Please always take care and use common sense when near water, especially with children.
Depending on the time of year, there may be a few fishermen Muggles, so please be stealthy in finding and replacing!
This cache and the three others on the "Drowes Salmon Run" are dedicated to my late grandfather Jim Daly who loved this area of North Leitrim and was very active in the Drowes and Lough Melvin fisheries.
The cache is container has been replaced with a new unique one, with pencil and logsheet inside. It is not large enough for trackables. Difficulty rating has been increased from original 2.5 to 3.5 as this container may be harder to spot and there is no clue! Please replace very carefully and as you found it.
