Slyniti used this cache to propose to Kpoe:) in June, 2013. A big "Thank You" goes to A-Ohana for helping find the perfect location, as well as doing all of the tough legwork in order to place this memorable cache. A link to a video taken of the proposal is above!
This cache is located at Hanakapiai falls, a very popular hiking destination on the north shore of Kauai. Starting at the end of the road at Ke’e Beach, it is two miles to the beach and then two more miles to the falls.
Although the scenery is absolutely spectacular, keep in mind that it is an eight mile round trip and the hike to the beach goes from sea level to about 500 ft., and back down to sea level again. Not too bad for the average hiker, but when you go to the falls and back, the last leg back to Ke’e can be brutal- especially in the early afternoon on a sunny day. Bring a LOT of water! You have to cross the stream just to get to the beach and the trail up the valley starts there. Also, the hike up the valley involves crossing the stream a few times and you should never cross the stream even at the beach when it has been raining heavily. Flash floods have stranded people for hours and people have drowned after being swept downstream.
