The Stone” Idafe” was a holy place by the native Palmeros, the Benahoritas. It was perceived as the anchor of the world and the natives where sure, that falling of the stone would be accompanied of catastrophes for the whole world.
They therefore brought oblations and one part sang: “ Iguida iguan Idafe?” (do they say Idafe is falling) and the other side responded: “ Que querte iguan taro” (give it what you brought with you and it will not fall). The Roque Idafe is protected as natural monument and is situated in the national park Caldera de Taburiente.
The word idafe is widely spread on la Palma. There are many Villas and houses with this name. A fruit export company is named SAT Idafe or a dance quartet. In addition an internetpage provides information about paragliding on la Palma under idafe.com

The cache is on the way of the traditional hiking route Caldera de taburiente. If you are choosing the traditional route, You shall take a taxi after parking to Los Brecitos. Hiking back to the parking is 6 to 7 hours. Alternatively you can hike into the caldera from the parking to the cache and the same way back. One way is about 3.5h so also 7h both ways. Calculate to be back one hour before sunset at the latest!Don't leave the official trails!
This site has the highest natural protection. Note also: Dogs are not allowed. Please do respect the park rules and hide the cache again against any view. Also note: The cache was newly placed one metre away from the original place more "muggle-secure". Please be cautious, do not take any risks and always whatch your steps! The terrain is steep. Don't let children search unattended.

Der Stein „Idafe“ war den Ureinwohnern la Palmas, den Benahoritas, heilig. Er galt als der Anker der Welt, denn es galt als sicher, dass wenn der Stein umfällt, die Erde von grossen Katastrophen heimgesucht würde.
Aus diesem Grund wurden Opfergaben gebracht und eine Seite sang „Iguida iguan Idafe?“ (Sagen sie, dass Idafe fallen wird?) und die andere Seite erwiderte: „Que guerte iguan taro“ (Gib ihm was du mitgebracht hast und er wird nicht fallen).
Der Roque Idafe gehört zu den geschützten „monumentos Natural“ und befindet sich inmitten des Nationalparks Caldera de Taburiente.

Der Cache befindet sich auf der traditionellen Wanderroute Caldera de Taburiente. Wenn Sie die normale Route wählen, dann parken Sie ihr Auto am angegebenen Punkt und nehmen ein dort angebotenes Taxi nach los Brecitos. Die Wanderung in die Caldera und zurück zum Parkplatz dauert 6 bis 7 Stunden. Alternativ kann der Cache auch vom Parkplatz aus erreicht werden. Rechnen Sie mit 3.5h pro Weg, also 7h Wanderzeit. Rechnen Sie so, dass sie spätestens eine Stunde vor Sonnenuntergang zurück sind. Verlassen Sie nicht die Wanderwege!
Dieser Ort steht unter höchstem Naturschutz. Beachten Sie auch: Hunde sind nicht erlaubt. Bitte respektieren Sie die Parkregeln und verstecken Sie den Cache wieder so, dass er unsichtbar ist. Beachten Sie auch: Der cache wurde neu muggle-sicherer gut einen Meter vom alten Platz gelegt. Gehen Sie keine Risiken ein und suchen sie bedacht. Das Gelände ist steil! Sorgen Sie für ihre Sicherheit. Lassen Sie Kinder nicht unbeaufsichtigt suchen!
