Geocache Description:

This cache was hidden to commemorate the placement of three visitor interpretive education signs designed by students of the Empire Ranch Foundation’s Wild about the Grasslands youth education and outreach program – a member site of Hands on the Land National Network of Field Classrooms. These wayside signs were funded in part by a grant from Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative Foundation. Please take time to read the visitor information signs to learn about what teenagers think is cool about the unique wildlife and rare habitats of the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area!

This cache is placed in conjecture with the National Public Lands Day CITO event. More information may be found at the websites, www.empireranchfoundation.org and www.blm.gov/az/st/en/npld.html.

Wild about the Grasslands is the Empire Ranch Foundation’s highly acclaimed ecology and Western heritage education program for youth.  The Empire Ranch Foundation, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management – Tucson Field Office, provides hands-on, customized field classroom programs for schools, fun day events for families, and teen engaged stewardship monitoring projects at the historic Empire Ranch in the heart of Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.

National Public Lands Day is an event that brings together thousands of volunteers from coast to coast to improve and restore the lands and facilities that Americans use for recreation, education, exercise and just plain enjoyment. Last year about 175,000 Americans participated at more than 2,200 sites in all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. To learn more, visit the website at www.publiclandsday.org.

NOTE: Please park at the pullout by the two visitor information signs. Be sure to read them before embarking on your hunt for this cache
