The first of a circular trail that will take you to places that no one else ever goes to; to a lovely romantic white standing stone; to a remote lake with a view across to the Drygarn; and of course includes alot of bog-bashing.
Park at the parking and proceed across the bridge over the Claerwen. Then go through the first gate on the left and walk along the track to the second gate. Go through it ( you have remembered to leave both gates exactly as you found them, haven't you?) and walk up the bank of the Afon Alban to the footbridge. Once over that, you're out on the open moor and how you get from one cache to the next is up to you.
This is a hill-walking series of caches. All the normal advice of hill-walking applies. It can be very misty on these hills and you must be able to navigate on flat featureless ground with 50m visibility, whilst carrying all your kit etcetera. And even after your GPSr conks out. Most importantly, go in a group or, if on your own, leave details of your route with someone who will know you're not home when you should be.
Right.... That's the serious bit over. Good views await you if you turn round at the cache location.
This cache was placed with the kind permission of the Elan Valley Trust and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water... Thank you. For more information about the Elan Valley go to www.elanvalley.org
