AVESA I “BUSI” E LA CROCETTA

Già possedimento della “Consortia degli Originari”, è un complesso di grandi cave, di suggestivo effetto scenografico, scavate nel monte.  Il nome del Monte Ongarine (detto anche Longarine o Longarina) sembra derivi da “trave”. Dalle sue cave, infatti, si ricavavano elementi portanti come stipiti, colonne e travi.

Dopo aver parcheggiato l’auto si risale via Monte Ongarine, si passa il ponte sul progno e si affronta una leggera salitella al termine della quale, prendendo a sx, si sale verso la croce e i Busi del Monte Ongarine (o Monte Crocetta per la presenza, appunto, di una croce in cemento sulla sommità e visibile dalla città) con facile sentiero di 15 min. I Busi sono delle enormi cavità nella roccia scavate dai cavatori di sassi per la costruzione delle case di Verona e usate anche come ripari durante l’ultimo conflitto mondiale. Il sentiero davanti ai Busi è pianeggiante e si può godere di un’emozionante vista di Avesa e Verona da una parte e della Lessinia dall’altra. E’ il punto d’arrivo anche delle numerose vie della scuola di roccia voluta da Beppe Pighi. Il sentiero continua dritto riprendendo un po’ in salita fino ad un bivio dove, prima di un vecchio cancello, tra gli alberi a sx si scorge un cartello stradale (freccia) che indica la direzione verso la sommità del monte Ongarine a sx , , e una volta in cima tenendo sempre la sx dopo 10 min si arriva alla croce. Interessante, durante il percorso, un altare con una singolare Madonna in Croce.
