This is the second in a series of six following the characters from the childrens story 'The Gruffalo'. This circular walk covers about 1 and a 1/2 miles on a well walked path which is not suitable for buggies and can be muddy when wet, wear your wellies!! Have fun, happy caching. PLEASE REPLACE STONE O FLAGUE AS THE REAL WILDLIFE IN THIS AREA HAVE A HABIT OF STEALING CACHES!!
The red sandstone slopes of this area are home to several woods, Coed Y Wenallt is one. It is a 44 hectare area of designated ancient woodland which is also an SSSI. There is a great variety of bird and other wildlife. You could consider yourself unlucky if you didn't hear a Great Spotted Woodpecker, particularly in springtime when the sea of bluebells provides a visual treat. Permission has been kindly granted for this trail of geocaches from Cardiff Council and Natural Resources Wales.
