Geocache Description:

Sixth out of a series of six caches following the characters from 'The Gruffalo'. The walk is about 1 and a 1/2 miles. Unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies and can be very muddy if its been raining so wellies are advisable. This is our regular dog walk and have spent many hours in these woods. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Tweezer may be required to extract log from container.

The red sandstone slopes of this area are home to several woods, Coed Y Wenallt is one. It is a 44 hectare area of designated ancient woodland which is also an SSSI. There is a great variety of bird and other wildlife. You could consider yourself unlucky if you didn't hear a Great Spotted Woodpecker, particularly in springtime when the sea of bluebells provides a visual treat. Permission has been kindly granted for this trail of geocaches from Cardiff Council and Natural Resources Wales. Congratulations for FTF to sniffadogz
