Here is a long lost cemetery that I discovered earlier in the year but forgot where it was located whenever I would be in the area to place a cache. Finally explored the area a little more thoroughly and finally found this cemetery.
This is one of those cemeteries that I like out on the prairie - headstones poking out of the very tall prairie grass. This spot reminds me of the Little Bighorn National Battlefield in that if you ever visit there, you will see headstones poking through the tall prairie grass as well.
Anyway, while exploring this spot, I found 5 grave markers with indications of others possibly. Found the grave of a 5 year old girl, a Civil War Veteran, and a few others. The recent rain storm from this morning had just passed and this spot seemed quite peaceful at the time.
In order to get to this spot, guess the easiest way would be to travel north/south on KS Hwy 177 south of the town of Council Grove, KS, and then turn west onto 4 Mile Road. Follow 4 Mile Road until it intersects with Z Ave. Z Ave and a portion of 4 Mile Road is well maintained gravel, though a bit mushy/spongy after this mornings rains. Cemetery will be on north side of Z Ave.
Dropped off a TB/coin that I found on a recent trip to New Mexico.
Cache container that you will be searching for is about the size of a PUDDING PACK.
Remember that this is a cemetery and please follow any/all rules/regulations that may be posted and that we have all seen on other page write-ups concerning these areas.
