Geocache Description:

Another cache in a series aimed at exploring one of the largest dune system in Europe! Please note, there is no need to climb any trees, disturb wildife or wade through greenery to find any of these caches.

This geocache has been placed within Newton Dunes. Once one of the largest dune systems in Europe, this site has played host to the filming of Lawrence of Arabia and has featured in the BBC series' Coast and Weatherman Walking.
The dunes begin at Newton Point and cover the 3 mile beachside land adjoining Newton Beach to the mouth of the River Ogmore. Further up the dune system, the second highest sand dune in Europe can be seen.

A lovely walk through the dunes should lead you to this small homemade cache. It was made from tape, a plastic container and an item I had lying around the house (which may give a clue to how it is hidden and so, shall remain unmentioned).

There is a logbook included in the cache, with no room for collectables or a pencil - don't forget to bring your own!

You may need to deviate from the footpath to find this one - however, there is no need to climb any trees, wade through bushes or otherwise distub the wildlife. You do, however, need to enter a small opening within the trees to get to the GZ.

There have been adders spotted within the dunes, however, in my ten/eleven years of walking my dogs here I have never seen one - but be aware, just in case!

UPDATE - local dog walkers have spotted adders within the dune system recently - please take care, especially if you have pets/kids with you.

Placed with the kind permission of CCW.
