This cache has been archived.

SoulDrifters: There has been a few incidents on the dirt road on the way to Giba over the last few days. Although they have not been caching related, we have decided to archive this one to avoid any problems in the future. Thank you to all those that found this cache :)

A little about Giba Gorge

Just outside Pinetown, nestled between the N3 Tollgate, Mariannhill Monastery and Assagay, lies a hidden Gem, called Giba Valley. Giba Valley, a special place for those who enjoy an active and outdoor lifestyle. The area is well known by MTB enthusiasts, offering great experiences to hikers, children & those wanting to enjoy a light meal in amazing surroundings.

The history of Giba Gorge – up until a couple of years ago known also as Clifton Canyon – focuses on the McIntosh family who use to live here. The one waterfall is still called McIntosh falls and the other Kirkman Falls. The Umhlatuzana Rock shelter is where the McIntosh family headed for when they feared a Zulu uprising.

Enjoy a fun hike or dare the adventure of cycling the off road tralls. (This could make a fun day with the family, combined with some caching - however I wouldnt recommend cycling the whole route with very small children. There are also bikes for hire opposite the coffee shop which makes really yummy pasta's!
