It doesn't matter if you are an old hand or a geo-novice, a local or from the other side of the state, come along and join us for a gathering in picturesque wine region of Mudgee.
Events are a great way to meet new people and make new friends with a common interest, pick up the latest information on equipment, techniques and software and share stories about the latest caching adventure. You may even pick up a hint or two to assist with those pesky DNFs.
The town of Mudgee is located about 270km North West, about a 3.5 to 4 hour drive from the centre on Sydney. While it is possible to come up and return home in a day, that wouldn't leave a lot of time for caching! While not essential as the official event will be on the Sunday, we recommend making a weekend of it spending the Saturday exploring all the region has to offer, staying the Saturday night in or near town, and attending the Sunday lunch get together in Mudgee itself. A few members of the Committee will be doing just that so there is a good chance on Saturday night we can have an unofficial meet up for dinner somewhere in town too.
The Official Event and logbook signing will be held in Lawson Park on Sunday starting from around 11am and probably wrapping up about 3pm to give out-of-towners a chance to get there, and/or start to make their way home. The event will be your standard meet and greet picnic affair and sharing of newly acquired adventures west of the Great Divide. On the ground out in Mudgee lives Sugarbuzz82, who prompted this event and will be helping out with her local knowledge. Please click here to head to the GCNSW Forum Topic where we will list some accommodation options, great local caches worth the visit while you are in town, and can organise stuff like car sharing, Saturday activities or meet ups and generally discuss logistics of this somewhat less than typical event! If you are not a forum member you can create a free account.
Outside of boxes hidden in various different ways Mudgee boasts a wine industry that is rapidly gaining renown and a culture for fine food and produce. Lawson Park is a tree littered green space on the banks of the Cudgegong River that has amenities, a children's playground and even the local swimming pool. There is a pub across the road and the main street with cafes and shops is only 1 block away. The listed co-ords are BBQs and there are uncovered but tree shaded tables nearby too. If you plan to bring a picnic blanket and a packed lunch you can't go wrong!

We hope to see some Mudgee folk and some familiar faces as well as the 'almost' locals from the Bluies, Bathurst and Beyond!
