Shotokan Black Belt - Kumite Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

KowaiBaz: I visited today and there has been a lot of cutting back of vegetation in one of the locations making it unsuitable for hiding. I have been considering letting this go to free up a large part of this lovely park for someone else to hide, so it’s time to say goodbye. Over 11 plus years it has only had 28 finders, which is difficult to understand (about 1 find every 5 months). The initial puzzle itself is easy enough and can be solved through trial and error in about 5 minutes.
I will post the subsequent elements of the field puzzle below to form part of the record.
Thank you to everyone who visited and I’m happy knowing it gave pleasure to some.

Geocache Description:

Your Shotokan Karate Black Belt test is in three parts: Kihon, or basic techniques (a traditional hide), Kata, or practice sequences (a multi-stage cache), and Kumite, or fighting (you can expect some surprises here, hence a mystery cache). If you pass all three parts, you will gain the satisfaction of knowing that you have become a "master of basics".

The kumite part of the Black Belt exam involves jiyu ippon kumite (freestyle one step sparring) with a partner. You will attack with full spirit and kiai using a prescribed set of techniques, after which your partner attacks, and you must defend. It is primarily an exercise in timing and distance, where you demonstrate zanshin and correct maai. Although the defender knows what to expect, there is still an element of uncertainty about each attack.

Similarly, this mystery cache will seem familiar at times but you must not let your guard down!

Location
I'm afraid that this time, the location is what you must determine. The above coordinates are for reference only; to begin your journey you must solve the puzzle below.

The Cache
The difficulty rating is for the complete mystery, to which there are several parts. The initial puzzle is not that difficult. And some of the difficulty comes from the amount of reading you will have to do!
The kata Bassai Dai with which, as a Black Belt candidate, you are familiar, roughly translates as "to penetrate, or to extract from a fortress". Several of the techniques particular to Bassai Dai are shown below. Always remember, there is no first strike in karate, but if you cannot avoid trouble, you would be well advised to remember the techniques you have learned here.
Osu!
