Placed with permission from the Redbank Valley Trails Assn (RVTA). See below for closest parking coords. Trail is open dawn to dusk. There is food and fuel in Widnoon, 3 miles from the parking area. Your coords may bounce here so difficulty has been bumped up slightly.
Congratulations to Whitefeather11, Stitch27, & Muffin the Holy for FTF.
Trail surface won't be improved until 2014. The unimproved trail surface into the cache is level, but rocky, so terrain rating has been bumped up slightly. I'll leave it at that even once the surface is improved in case someone comes in from the Redbank parking area. The 1x6" sized cache is within 25' of the trail on the creek side.
You will get real nice views of Redbank Creek from all along this section of the trail, plus you can see lots of MOSSY pieces of the past along here. This is in a remote area so be aware that you could see all types of wildlife. It would be advisable to wear orange during hunting season since you are in the woods.
Daisy Fleabane is a very common weed found in open fields or along PA roads. The word "bane" comes from the Anglo-Saxon "bana" and means "destroyer" because these plants when dried or burned are supposedly an insect repellent. A diuretic tea can also be made from the plant. The plant grows 1-5' tall, with ½" flowers.
