Geocache Description:

The cache is a black camo candy box, only enough for log sheet.

History:
Cross Harbour Race was first held in 1906, at Victoria Harbour, but was suspended in 1979. It has served as one of the most iconic and celebrated sporting events in Hong Kong, attracting thousands of participants and spectators. The event also attracted significant media attention locally and internationally with vibrant photos of athletes diving into Victoria Harbour against the picturesque backdrops of Hong Kong’s mountain and skyscraper views.

Modern Race:
The root cause of suspension is the poor water quality. Time flies, 30 years later, the race was re-introduced in 2011 acknowledged to the support of all Hong Kong citizens, the government, sponsors and other supporting organizations. Organizing party has received tremendous response with over 7,000 applications since the strong return of Cross Harbour Race and the races had been successfully held under the excited spectators’ cheers.

Race Course:

Old start point:
In old days, the start point is at Tsim Sha Tsiu, near Queen’s Pier and end at Central.

New start point:
Nowadays, the race course shifted to east, start at Lei Yue Mun, Sam Ka Tsuen Pier and end at Quarry Bay.

If you want to witness that iconic moment, here is some recommendations.

2014: 12 Oct 2014, Sun, 8:30am.

Start point:
The best place to take photo is the listed coordinate of GC1HZXV, there is a light house, climbing is required, so be careful and take your own risk.

End point:
It is just at the park of GC1EJ4W, try to find a place at upper deck. Of course, you need to be there really early to occupy a good spot.
