In memory of our beloved calico, Sprite (October 3, 1996 to September 30, 2013)
Seventeen years ago, in a far off land called Champaign-Urbana, I met a day-old calico kitten who had been found in a garbage can and dumped at the vet clinic of the PetSmart at which I worked. After a short stint of being bottle-fed and litter-trained (in a piece of Tupperware!), she came to live with me and the three other cats in my "no pet" campus apartment before moving with my husband and I to Morrison.
I am placing this cache on what would have been her 17th birthday in honor of anyone who has ever had a cat who drools when she's happy, gives you love-bites when she feels ignored, eats the tops off entire pans of cinnamon rolls, climbs in the shower with you while the water is running, naps with her eyes open, or sleeps on your feet every single night.
