The area is part of Plenty Gorge Park. Early settlers used this as grazing land. There are historical sites in the area and many old fences still exist. The vegetation is a mixture of original forest and well established regrowth forest. The ground vegetation is thick in places but criss-crossed by many tracks that are used by mountain bike riders, walkers, kangaroos and other widlife.
The cache is on the Western side of Plenty River. There is no safe access from the Eastern side of the river unless you take a long detour.
