Wattle is the name commonly given to genus trees and shrubs in the acacia. There are over 1 300 species of acacia. In a number of countries around the world parts of trees and shrubs are used as food. These countries include Burma, Loas, Thailand and Mexico. Acacia is also listed as an ingredient in many soft drinks and lollies. Golden wattle is the national flower of Australia.
