Warm Springs AKA Little Sturgis Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

LionsLair: the puzzle for this cache no longer works with the area... It's going to be a huge undertaking to rework the puzzle and I just don't have the time for this at the moment, however there are plans to use this area for another cache as part of a Warm Springs geoquest trail in the area...
it was fun while it lasted, but it's time to let it go....

Geocache Description:

Many know Warm Springs to be the quaint little town that Franklin D. Roosevelt made famous through his love for the area and his visits during his presidency. While the area surrounding Warm Springs is known to be the home of the Roosevelt Institute, Little White House, and FDR State Park, many travel through the area without discovering the many other hidden treasures Warm Springs has to offer.

Upon my first visit here, I was really surprised this area didn't already have a geocache. IMHO, this is what geocaching was intended to do...bring to you to an area that you would pass by on any given occasion, yet you stop to get the geocache, find something really unique and say WOW! :)

I hope this is one of those caches for you to remember!

This cache was placed to showcase the area and will take you on a tour of some of the hidden treasures that are often overlooked by many.

The coordinates will take you to the cache, however the lock will prevent you from opening it. In order to open the lock, you will need to find clues nearby and use them to figure out the combination on the lock. All of the clues can be found within a 500 foot radius of the cache location and no driving is required.

Good luck - enjoy yourself and your tour of Warm Springs!

A) Start by searching for the original name of the town. (**HINT** it also shares the name of a well known business in town). Once you have found the name, find the date in which the town was established and add the numbers together. You should have a two digit number.

B) Now find the motorcycle museum. Somewhere outside you will find a sign that reads "see over _____rare motorbikes". Use the number you find and add it to your number you have for "A".

C) Now find the lion. While standing in front of the lion, you will see nine (9) signs with a common theme and number on them. Use the number you find and add it to your previous answer.

D) Now look for a mural on a steeple. Count the number of animal depictions in the mural. Add this number to your previous answer.

E) Nearby is another mural on a sign with a depiction of Bonneville Salt Flats. Once you find it, you will need to count how many motorcycles are in the mural and add it to your previous answer.

F) Now you will need to find a wood carving with three (3) bears on it. There is a number on the carving. Take this number and add it to your previous answer.

G) Finally, you will need to find the leather shop. There is a sign nearby with a "vintage" date. Use this date and subtract your previous answer from the date.

Congratulations! This concludes your tour of little Sturgis. You should now have the combination to the cache and can now claim your smilie.

I hope you have enjoyed yourself and found many more hidden treasures throughout your journey in Warm Springs. :)

By the way, the cache location is a hidden treasure within itself!!
