Geocache Description:

Special thanks to Liz Lubrani for her permission and enthusiasm to place all the caches in the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens.

PLEASE READ!!!!

All caches placed in the garden can be retrieved without stepping into any of the planting beds or pulling or picking any plants or flowers.  All caches (except Bamboo Bonus Cache) can be seen from the walkways and without moving anything.  There are no “evil” sprinkler hides.

Geocaches may only be found during normal garden hours (see bottom of page).

* NOTE * Due to a recent change in policy our furry little friends (dogs) are no longer allowed in the gardens.

PLEASE DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN LOGS OR PICTURES OR LOG WILL BE DELETED.

If you enjoyed the cache then please consider awarding it a Favorite Point. The more Favorite Points it has, the more others may be attracted to share your experience.

Xeriscape Demonstration Garden

Xeriscaping conserves water and maintenance input by grouping garden plants by common needs. This area reveals the basic tenets of xeriscaping, as well as including good landscape use of various common shrubs, trees, palms and turfgrass for southern Georgia. Ultimately, irrigation water usage declines and garden maintenance diminishes.

Advantages to Xeriscaping include:

  • Lowers consumption of imported or ground water.
  • More water available for other domestic and community uses and the environment.
  • Less time and work needed for maintenance effort (no lawns to cut).
  • Xeriscape plants in appropriate planting design, and soil grading and mulching, takes full advantage of rainfall retention.
  • When water restrictions are implemented, by municipality or water costs, xeriscape plants will tend to survive and thrive, while more ornamental plants may be unable to adapt.
  • Can be visually more interesting than lawns.
  • Saves a lot of money
The Cache

For those working on Bamboo Bonus Cache, don't forget to check for your clue!

As you approach Ground Zero you will notice a birdhouse-like box. Somewhat similar to "Om Nom Nom Nom!", "Your Adventure Starts Here", “Take a Deep Breath (Savannah)” and "Welcome to Georgia" you will have to "do something" to find the log. I'm sure there will be some PAF's. After you solve this one, don't be too fast to give away its secret; the fun of the find is solving this simple solution. When you figure out the solution, you will notice it only takes a VERY light touch.

Like all of my caches, it DOES NOT need to be taken apart, pried open or otherwise disassembled. NO additional tools OTHER than what is noted on the cache page will be required. No screwdrivers, crowbars, chainsaws, explosives, etc.

Other nearby gadget caches:

If you like caches that require the cacher to do "something" or "operate" something (I call these gadget caches) then you will like the following caches, on White Bluff road is “Om Nom Nom Nom” (GC4EFMW),“Take a Deep Breath (Savannah)” (GC4GQ4R) is located at the Savannah Botanical Gardens on Eisenhower Drive; “Your Adventure Starts Here” (GC4DNE7) is located in the Bass Pro parking lot, “The Key to Battery Garland” (GC4FMFW) is located at the Tybee Island museum and “Welcome to Georgia”(GC4DNC2) is at the Interstate 95 Georgia / South Carolina Border southbound rest area.

These are all very unique and each one VERY different.
