Geocache Description:

Cache is located in Jacksons Grove, a short stroll from Eastern Ware. At time of placement there were badges for 1st, 2nd and 3rd to find.

One of my hobbies (aside from Geocaching) is to makes things out of paracord. Local cachers may have noticed the keyrings I try to leave in caches as my signature item. With that in mind I thought I'd start off a series of caches containing my wares for other cachers to take and enjoy. Please don't feel oblidged to leave anything - although I would ask that cachers let me know when the contents are dwindling so I can drop off further supplies.

This first in the series contains keyrings made with a Round Sinnet Knot. Each is made with approximately 2 x 2.5 feet of paracord. Use them as a keyring or attach to a zipper (e.g. on a rucksack) to provide an emergency piece of cord when required.

My items are all made from military spec. 550 paracord - so called because the cord has a breaking strain of 550lbs. It was first developed as parachute cord and has gone on to be very popular finding many uses in both military and civilian life. It was infamously used by NASA astronauts to effect a repair on the Hubble Space telescope.

Whilst the military tend to only use the green and camoflauge colours, it's increasing popularity has seen it become available in a wide range of commercial colours.

I hope you enjoy them.

To demonstrate how useful these keyrings can be, I've copied the following from a post on the '1st Facebook Scout Group' Facebook page:- "Made use of some scouting skills this weekend! My Land Rover's throttle cable snapped on the M1, leaving me with no accelerator control. So I coasted to a stop on the hard shoulder to investigate. I would have been stranded but for my paracord key ring! unknotted it to provide a length of paracord which I tied round the control arm on the engine, and poked the other end through into the footwell. This gave a (slightly rudimentary) hand throttle which got us going again, at least far enough to abandon ship at my parents' house"
