Geocache Description:

This can be a short walk in a park.  Container is log only so bring a writing utensil. Please don't leave a picture of the container as a part of your log as that could take away from the next finders experience.

This is a favorite park for Horse Girl.  We have spent many hours testing out the play ground equipment which we always find it excellent working condition.   We have also spent many hours fishing here.  The pond is catch and release only.  It is full of Largemouth Bass, Grass Carp, Channel Catfish, a few Crappie and many various species of Sun Fish.

The park rules can be found at http://www.deerfieldtwp.com/PDFs/ParksRec/Parks_RulesRegulations.pdf.

This 46 acre park is located at the intersection of Snider Rd and Irwin-Simpson Rd (5847 Irwin-Simpson Rd). The park features soccer fields, tennis courts, baseball fields, basketball courts, and a walking path. Additional amenities include a fishing pond, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and restroom facilities.

The centerpiece of the park is the Snyder House. The late Mary Cottell, patroness of the park, generously donated $50,000 to the parks system, which was used to create a stone patio and flower garden surrounding the Snyder House.

In 2009, Cottell Park became home to the Deerfield Honors Veterans Memorial. This park-within-a-park was designed to honor the service of all past and present members of the Armed Forces.

If you come here with little geo-cachers, don't forget to follow rule number three of geocaching, "test all play ground equipment."  I don't make up the rules, I just follow them.
