This cache is located along the Buckeye Trail www.buckeyetrail.org and the slack water of the Maumee River created by the Providence dam.
Parking is available off road on the wide stone and grassy area.
The dam at Providence gives the Maumee River a greater depth and width in this area. The dam created a slack water pool in the river for canal boats traveling on the Miami & Erie Canal system. Canal boats coming from the Gilead Sidecut Canal in Grand Rapids (across the Maumee River) locked back into the Miami and Erie Canal just west of here at the Buckland guard lock as did boats entering the slack water near the mill in Providence.
