Battelle Darby Creek is the largest Metro Park with more than 7,000 acres of prairies, fields and forests, and more than 20 miles of riparian forest along the Big and Little Darby Creeks. The Darby creeks are noted nationally for their tremendous diversity and abundance of both aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals. A true jewel of nature, Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park also boasts 33 miles of trails that wind through acres of forest and prairies and along wetlands and streams, providing educational and recreational opportunities for thousands of visitors each year.
The Nature Center provides opportunities for visitors to learn about and explore the vast Darby Creek Watershed. The 14,000 square-foot nature center includes classrooms, a 53-foot living stream, interactive and static interpretive exhibits. The exhibits highlight the natural and cultural history of the area.
The building is built into the side of a hill and is designed to reduce energy consumption and have a minimal environmental impact. Other sustainable components of the building include roof overhangs and sunshades, a vegetated roof, a geothermal heating and cooling system.

Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park GeoChallenge caches are located throughout this magnificent park providing you the opportunity to visit many of Natures Beautiful Creations. Your adventure will be educational, fun, rewarding, log 6 smileys and the Grand Challenge Puzzle Cache. To complete the Grand Challenge you must log each of the 6 caches and write down the specific question located in each container. Take the 6 questions to the Nature Center to find the answers required to determine the coordinates for the FINAL. The final is a regular size container with plenty of room for swag and TB's.
