Geocache Description:

This cache is our first and thought it only appropriate to by placed in our home town.

Kingston was one of the first townships in DeKalp County.  The Village of Kingston was settled in 1835 by the Pottowatomie Indians.  The town was very prosperous after 1876 when Stuart and James Lyman both built brick homes downtown.  These homes are still standing and are part of our community at 300 and 501 South Main Street.

The population in 1865 was 1181.  When we moved into Kingston in 1985 the population was at 550.  Today, in 2013, our population is now 1069.

Enjoy our town.  We are both small and friendly.  Happy caching!!  :)
