Here's how this party works: Cachers will be divided randomly into teams. The number and size of teams will be determined by attendance. Each team will receive an unactivated TB dog tag and an assortment of potential items which can be turned into a travel bug. I'll bring my computer so that the bugs can be activated and their goals, missions, and descriptions entered on each TB's page.
That's just the start of the competition. Earn team awards at the event for various categories - most creative, most ambitious, funniest, etc. Then launch your bug out into the world where it can earn points for its travels between Nov 6 2013 and Midnight Nov 5 2014.
The scoring system:
Event attendance:
Placed in a standard event 1,000 points
Placed in a CITO event 1,500 points
Placed in a mega event 2,500 points
Each discovered log:
Discovered during an event 250 points
Any other discovered log 150 points
Each mile traveled: 1 point
Placed in a cache:
Placed in a TB Hotel cache 250 points
Placed in a non-hotel cache 50 points
Photos: Any photo of TB posted on TB page 250 points
Visiting new places:
Each new state visited 25 points
Each new country visited 100 points
Each new continent visited 1,000 points
Whose bug will score the most points? Time will tell!
Of course the usual socializing, meeting, and greeting will occur, as well as the traditional catered event meal of Hershey's kisses.
