This is one of 5 cache placements on scenic waterways here in southern La. Take a minute to relax nearby on the water. Located on Bayou Liberty, this is St. Genevieve Church grounds where the original historic building was destroyed in hurricane Katrina. Since rebuilt, it is higher and more modern looking than the brick building that came before it. The bridge that connects the church to the marina used to be hand-cranked drawbridge. The attendant would have to put the crank into a hole in the middle of the bridge and actually walk in circles ON the bridge. This would turn the gears, swinging the bridge open to allow even the smallest of boats to pass. The new bridge was built well before Katrina and the old bridge was left for historical value, but it too was no-more after the storm.
