Geocache Description:

It is located in Patricia Ann Byrom Forest Preserve Park in Albemarle County. Park is open from 7am to 1 hour after sunset. It is open to hiking, biking and horse back riding year around......

This cache is up there and will require you to make the climb.....literally...but it is a gem of a park and well worth the effort!!!!

You will start your ascent at around 1030 ft from the parking lot and your journey will take you to an elevation of 2372.....There are few ways to get there but the most "leisurely" route to take is to follow the Great Mountain Trail to a RIGHT onto Little Flat Mountain Loop which will take you first to Gibson Mountain Overlook for a AWESOME view and then you will continue on the trail until you see a "undeveloped trail" to the RIGHT that will take you to the top!!!! Total trip distance to the cache taking this route is approx. 2.5 miles with approx. 1600 ft. of elevation gain....

There are plenty of caches along the way up to the peak of Little Flat Mountain to break up the never ending climb....one being at Gibson Mountain Overlook!
