From The Incline, continue down the straight and narrow until you meet the footpath which crosses the golf course. Turn right and go north over the main track and though some upright stones onto a small path heading north to start with. A lovely bendy path which descends down to the bottom of the site.
Near the bottom, rock walls rise on the edge of the site. The cache can be found just off the path at the base of the small cliff. Watch where you stand. Once found, continue to the end and turn left, following the main track back up through the site to the quarry, or use the footpath across the golf course. See map
Lime Works - there are few remains left now. Quarrying started with the coming of the railway in 1857 and continued until 1959 although the works continued production for a few years with rock from Middlebarrow quarry. They were demolished in 1970. A large Hoffman kiln produced large quantities of lime and Trowbarrow was one of the first places to develop the patented tarmacadam process for roads and pavements. Blackpool prom was built with tar covered crushed limestone from Trowbarrow.
We hope you enjoy your visit to this special place!
