Geocache Description:

An easy hide about .2 mile from parking. Small container painted black with log and room for small  trade items. A presidential gold dollar is for the FTF.

This is on a paved road that is used for hiking and biking now.  This used to be Hwy 195 that went across the dirt dam and continued on to cross the Elephant Butte Dam. This section is about 1.5 miles and has been closed since 9-11 as all dams in this country have been also. There is a large parking area. A parks pass or a day pass is required here as it is in the state park. Access to this is at  exit 83 off I-25 and follow 195.  This series would be very wheel chair accessable with only slight grades. Great views of the lake and dam area. Permission to place  this cache was by Kay Dunlap, park superintendent.
