Come celebrate Geocaching.com's "Geocaching In Space" to commemorate the launch of a travelbug to the International Space Station!
We can eat upstairs (they will have an area reserved for us) and then "mingle" and "celebrate the launch" in the downstairs area.
Astronaut Rick Mastracchio (geocacher AstroRM) will be launching to the International Space Station Geocache GC1BE91 on Expedition Russia. He will be taking along Travel Bug TB5JJN1 with him.
Rick will live aboard the International Space Station for 6 months. He plans to use the Travel Bug as a tool to teach students on Earth, in his home state of Connecticut, about geography and science. He’ll also earn the Solar System’s most elusive smiley and find the International Space Station geocache.
The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on November 7, which is 8:08 p.m. in the Kootenays on November 6.
For attending a "Geocaching in Space" event you will get a special souvenir from Geocaching.com as well as a smiley! As this is a real-deal rocket launch, it could be delayed. If the launch is delayed, you will still receive the special souvenir if you attend this event.
> Thanks to Landsharkz for the donation of some prizes for the event.
