Step back into the 1900s by visiting this old-fashioned small town in south central Idaho, complete with a classic town square flanked by charming buildings with shops and businesses. The town square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visit the newly restored Wilson Theater or wander through yesteryear at the Minidoka County Museum.
Rupert, founded in 1906, sprung up after the announcement of the Minidoka Reclamation Project, which provided irrigation and electricity following the completion of the Minidoka Dam in 1906. Electricity was plentiful after the building of the dam and led to Rupert being one of the first cities in the world to have its streets lighted by electricity.
We placed this cache after visiting the Springs Calvary Chapel, located here in Rupert Square. What a warm and welcoming church! If you have time, stop in and say hi to them or attend a service. Casual attire is the norm.
