Geocache Description:

One of a series of simple, easy to find, caches at railway stations in and around the Manawatu.

Welcome aboard the MCC's Sanson tramway service to Sanson! Last stop Whale Line, next stop Campbelltown.

Another dropoff and pick up point with a simple shelter shed. Stockpens were added in 1886.
Here was the line's only recorded fatality. The fireman would often stand on the cowcatcher of an engine to sprinkle sand on the track to assist the engine up the Rosina bank. Alfred Scandlyn was doing this on 11 December 1922 when he lost his footing and was run over. The County Council sent a letter of sympathy and £15 wages to his widow.

Warning: The rail has been removed, State Highway 1 has been widened and its drainage improved. Parking is not the best. Please take care!
