The Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius purchased the vacant Castle Grove Mansion in 1919. In 1922 the Slovak Girls' Academy was started in the mansion. In 1929 a new building for the Slovak Girls' Academy was begun, a beautiful stone building with a 170 foot stone tower at its center. The school's name was then changed to Saint Cyril Academy. The building now houses Saint Cyril Preschool and Kindergarten. In 1939 the adjacent Basilica of Saint Cyril and Methodisu was dedicated. Incredibly beautiful, it is one of only four minor Basilicas in Pennsylvania and one of forty in the United States. If you have time you may wish to tour the Basilica. The entrance is near the information signs.
"Private Property" and "No Trespassing" signs do not apply to Geocachers, but if anyone asks what you are looking for, identify yourself as a Geocacher. Lots of people live here, and none of them are muggles. They might even be helpful. Please park in marked parking areas.
Also, please be respectful of the "No Smoking on the Grounds" rule that we have. No night caching, please. Thank you.
Planced for our October 2013 Event. Enjoy!
