FTF goes to Ol'Fogies!

My Grandma came to visit one time while we were going on vacation. And as like previous vacations we always went fishing. This particular day my Dad ask Grandma if she wanted to go out on the boat with us and she said yes. So down to the dock with gear in hand my Grandma, Dad, brother Tom and I went. We climbed into the boat and headed out to a spot my Dad thought would be a good place to fish.

Once we got to the spot, poles were passed out and hooks baited. After a few minutes Tom (about age 4 or 5 years) broke out in song. Don't remember what it was but it was one of those obnoxious songs that little kids sing. Grandma told Tom to shhhh as he was going to scare the fish away. He quieted for a few minutes and then he started to sing again. Once again Grandma told him to shhhhh.

Soon afterwards Tom caught the first fish. He looked at it and said, "Grandma, I don't have to be quiet because the fish can't hear me 'cause they don't have ears!" I don't remember what exactly Grandma said to that comment but she put the fear of God into Tom because he didn't sing the rest of the fishing trip. And I was to afraid to add my two cents worth that I agreed with Tom.

Years later I found out that my Grandma had been an avid fisherlady in her younger days and she wanted silence when she went fishing. I wondered how she commanded that silence when she had seven children, six of whom were boys and their favorite summer activity was to go family camping, fishing and frogging on weekends.
