Geocache Description:

Left field by definition is an informal adj regarded as being outside the mainstream; or unconventional.

or for baseballers the area of the outfield to the batter's left of centre.

The baseball diamond here is home to the Research Baseball club.

While they are using the grounds in both Winter and Summer, they have not only a wonky shaped diamond (open up any maping program to confirm this) but there is also a cricket pitch in the middle of Left field.

A home ground advantage is not a heavily guarded secret but known only to those familiar with the ground. Here it is widely known that the rght field is only an abbreviated 85m deep. Due to the local topography, the rivers path, and the amount of cut and fill council had available at the time; makes this an easy home run if you can play "opposite field" or if you bat Southpaw. The right field boundary (in some perverse way of compensatory geography) is a whopping 110m!

This gives the poor left fielder a much larger area of coverage and responsibility.

Theres no rest for the  fielder # 7
