I recently saw the new 81 Grid GeoAchievement Coin and thought it would be a fun thing to strive for. It quickly became apparent that the toughest obstacle would be the lack of available geocaches in the area matching some of the particular difficulty/terrain combinations. This hide was placed to help my fellow cachers who might be attempting this same achievement.
This hide consists of a 3 mile round-trip hike with a few potential stream/river crossings and about a 500-1000' mild, off-trail excursion to get to the location, depending on where you choose to leave the trail. Parking can be found at the end of Bollinger Mill Road, although I guess one could park along Deer Park Road if they wished. From the parking area, head down the firetrail and turn left(no need to Hoof it to the Point today). You will be heading down a scenic trail along a river for about a mile. At some point, you will need to decide whether to get your feet wet or bushwhack, depending on time of year and water temperature. The water crossing will most likely be easier. When you get near the hide location, this one should stick out like a sore thumb. I know it's a nano in the woods, but it truly is a '1' difficulty. In fact, the hint will practically hand this one to you.
REMEMBER THAT LIBERTY RESERVOIR IS AN ACTIVE HUNTING AREA IN THE FALL AND WINTER. PLEASE TAKE APPROPRIATE PRECAUTIONS!!!
