In this beautiful neighborhood overlooking one of NYC’s most cherished parks, you will find a bronze tribute dedicated in 1928 to a Hungarian freedom fighter and revolutionary leader. You will find a container of wonder, take something and leave something behind.
For many years on March 15th, Hungarian Independence Day has been celebrated at the monument to this Hungarian patriot (1802-94). The bronze tableau portrays a vignette of the struggle for Hungarian independence in 1848.
A caped peasant hides the booty.
