Geocache Description:

If you are in the mood for geocaching and hiking, why not heading to Cozia mountains? There are several ways to access Cozia, however a weekend circuit leaving from either Turnu Monastery or Stanisoara Monastery - both easy accessible by car - can allow you to visit all the geocaches on the mountain as well.

Cozia - Peak and Hut

Cozia National Park with an area of 17.100 ha was declared natural protected area in 2000 and represents a mountainous area with flora and fauna specific Southern Carpathians. Besides its peculiar aspect of flora elements, Cozia National Park has a good number of lichen species.

Cozia Hut (1570 m) is located near the Cozia Peak (1668 m) where a festival of anntenas are overlooking on South Wast the Olt valley and towards East the Loviste depression. This would be all to say about the place, the rest you should see it with your own eyes, as no photo can transmit the greatness felt up there. Be sure to wake up early in the morning when usually a sea of clouds shall lay at your feet. This area is accessible as well by car, via DJ 703N.

This box is hidden close to the hut, at the foot of a big old pine.

You can reach all the geocaches in Cozia mountains if from Stanisoara Monastery you take the vertical blue strip indicator up to Cozia Hut. On your way back, you have to get the vertical red stripe back to the valley. If you take this directions, the order of the boxes shall be as follows:
- GC3NDX5 - Small Pin viewpoint
- GC3NHBY - Small rock Viewpoint
- GC3NDWK - Gaura din peretele Cozian
- GC4Q791 - Cozia - Peak and Hut
- GC3NDVA - Cozia High Horn
- GC4Q79E - Cozia - Muchia Turneanu
- GC4Q79H - Cozia - Muchia Traznita
- GC3MXK3 - Bulz GeoArtCache #2
All the boxes are situated more or less on the trails, except for GC3MXK3 where you have to step aside about 100 m off the path. Please note all the boxes are attendable only if you are in physical condition to hike 4-5 hours per segment (considering an overnight at the Cozia Hut).

Please note in winter time attending most of the boxes is more or less impossible either due to their location, either to the difficult way of accessing them. Above shall apply as well during rainy weather periods. Please check and respect carefully the attributes of the geocaches in order to avoid unexpected dangers.
