An easy hide along 152 By Kingston NM. Container is a peanutbutter jar painted black with logbook and many trade items.
This is a replacement cache for the one that got washed away in the flood a few weeks ago. That was in a nice little camp ground that nearly got washed away also. It is closed now. Don't know if it will reopen at some point in the future. Only thing left here is a nice bathroom facility. That is still there and open. This is on the percha creek which is usually only a trickle but obviously can become a ragging river at times. Kingston is pretty much a quiet ghost town but does have quite a few residents. Many are retirees. At one time when silver was discovered here in the 1870's there were as many as 7000 people lived here. Hard to believe. There were also many indians in the area and caused quite a few conflicts over the years. This is also a popular birding area and NM birding trail 32 starts here. We almost lost this little town to a forest fire this summer but luckily they stopped it just short of the town. If you go west of here on 152 you will see the devastating effects of this fire.
