Geocache Description:

This is a series of 3 caches featuring the Roadends Community Sculpture Project in the year 2000 on South and North Uist which we have really enjoyed.
The cache and sculpture "Reflections" is in Carnach/Claddach Baleshare (Cladach a' Bhaile Shear) on North Uist.

The description of the sculpture:

"Roadends aims to encourage communities to celebrate their identities, history and spirit by working with an artist to create an artwork set in the landscape.

Reflections by Colin MacKenzie. March 2000.
The sweeping ceramic tiled seat mirrors the shape and colours of its surroundings. Subtle aqua with splashes of colour reflect the sand, water and rocks, and the gentle ripples are mimicked on the surface.
Colin Mackenzie assisted local children and adults to create special picture tiles including the words "Dol Seachad air Fadhail nan Caorach" (crossing at the ford of the sheep) taken from a song by Illeray bard Ruaraidh MacKay. The images of sheep and footprints refer to the pre-causeway crossing place over the sand to Baleshare.

Faileasan

Other things to do at this roadend are:

- walk on an old foot path back to the main road (A 865)

- visit Baleshare (Baile Sear), a small island linked with a causeway
There is one of the best beaches on the Uists and a recently excavated wheel-
  house.
It is possible to park near the sculpture.
