Our first geocache, in honor of Al's 60th birthday and the return of our sibling reunion to Dippikill after 25 years.
Dippikill is a private 850-acre wilderness retreat facility owned by the Student Association of the University at Albany.
Day use until sundown is free and open to the public. You are required to sign-in at the Office, where trail maps are available. More information, including driving directions, is available at www.dippikill.com
After signing-in, drive up Dippikill Road to the main parking lot. Begin your walk across the street. Go past the main trailhead entrance and take the trail that begins behind the Bathouse. Follow the trail as it winds gently through the woods. At the first trail junction turn right, and continue along the marked trail until you find the geocache. You can double back, or continue on to the Ridge Trail to the summit of Dippikill Mountain (full loop about 5 miles) or to Dippikill Pond (closer to two miles). We hope you enjoy the walk as much as we do. Just watch for hidden rocks and roots.
