Geocaching is rocketing into space once again. Astronaut Rick Mastracchio will deliver a Travel Bug to the International Space Station. Mastracchio will be using the Travel Bug as an educational tool to help teach students around the world about geography and provide other educational lessons. The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on November 7 and we want you all to be there (at least in spirit). That means the launch is planned to liftoff at 5:08 a.m. in Berlin and November 6 at 10:08 p.m. our time.
You can attend an event on the 6th or 7th of November to receive the souvenir, but I thought it would be neat to actually watch the launch.
This is a quick flash mob to watch the launch of this mission. If it runs late or gets postponed, oh well, we tried! Hopefully the NASA-TV site will be back up and running by then. If you have an iPad or laptop that can connect to wi-fi bring it along. We’ll watch the launch, take a group pic and that will be all. 15 minutes hopefully.
Where: Fort Smith Public Library parking lot
When: November 6th at 10:00 p.m. (launch at 10:08)
Why: To watch the launch and earn a souvenir and visit!
Anything else: Wear your best tin foil hat! You knew I would add in something like this right?
