How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A Flash Mob at Horsbere, Gloucester on Thursday 7th November.
Many are being held on 06/11/13 but the 7th IS valid date for the souvenir. See below.
Gathering time will be 7.30pm; dispersal at 7.45pm.

Hopefully, there will be a clear night sky and we can look to the stars!

Children are welcome but we suggest close supervision due to the nature of the landscape at Horsbere.

Groundspeak have announced the issue of a Souvenir to go with the launching of a TB into space.

A Geocaching Travel Bug® is hitching a ride with astronaut Rick Mastracchio straight to the International Space Station. The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on the 7th November 2013.

Rick will live aboard the ISS for 6 months. He plans to use the Travel Bug as a tool to teach students on Earth, in his home state of Connecticut, about geography and science. He’ll also earn the Solar System’s most elusive smiley and find the International Space Station geocache.

We looked at several ideas to celebrate this launching and grab the souvenir!)
One of these ideas was to hold an event at four o'clock in the morning to tie in with the actual launch time. However getting out of bed at 3.30 on a November morning did not appeal (though I would be interested to know how many attendees we would have attracted).
The final idea is a bit more mundane.
We have no suitable "space-related" venues around Gloucester and few places suitable for viewing the firmament. So, Horsbere will have to do.
The Flash Mob will be held between 19.30 and 19.45 during which cachers can sign the log. I see most Space events are being held on the 6th. I considered re-scheduling but decided to be different...the date is still valid for the souvenir.
After 19.45 the Geocaching Event is OVER, cachers may disperse.
