Dennis Hill, a 240-acre estate, was gifted to Connecticut in 1935 by noted New York surgeon Dr. Frederick Shepard Dennis. A unique summit pavilion is located at an elevation of 1627 feet. Haystack Mountain, Mt. Greylock, the Green Mountains, and a portion of the State of New Hampshire can be seen from the summit in clear weather.

State Park and Forest Recreation Areas are open to the public year round, as conditions permit, from sunrise until sunset. Pets on a leash are permitted in most state parks and forests. Owners must remove and properly dispose of pet waste left by the pet or riding animal under their control. There are no entry fees.
