Geocache Description:

Mark your calendar for 6:30pm - 8:30 pm on Thursday November 7, 2013!

Join cachers worldwide...and beyond!...as Astronaut Rick Mastracchio boldly goes to the International Space Station, bringing along a Travel Bug and finding the Holy Grail of caches, the International Space Station cache (GC1BE91). TB5JJN1 will accompany Rick on his 6 month journey as he plans to use the travel bug as a tool to teach students on Earth about geography and science. The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on November 7, which is November 6 at 9:08 p.m. MST.

To celebrate this historical event, estrek is inviting all Geocachers to this event at the LTO. Come on out, get a chance to view the night sky on one of their large telescopes, learn some fun facts, & visit with fellow cachers. (if it is cloudy, there will be either presentations, or a DVD movie about something space related)

Every geocacher who attends a Geocaching Event on November 6 or 7, 2013 will be awarded a “Geocaching in Space” souvenir. If the launch is delayed, you will still receive the special souvenir if you attend this event.

Please be sure to check out the Little Thompson Observatory Visitor Guidelines: Click here to go to LTO site.

The guidelines will help ensure that everyone has an enjoyable evening at the LTO... like information about dressing, bring flashlights, no pets, no food & drinks, cell phone etiquette, note about accessibility, etc.

NOTE: Parking is very limited near the observatory building. Please park in the large, lighted high school parking lot just East of Berthoud High School – near the running track. The Observatory is visible from the parking lot.

Remember to sign estrek's log book when you arrive smiley
